Approved Product List

Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) has added ZincFive’s patented nickel-zinc battery solutions to the agency’s Green Sheets Approved Product List for traffic signal equipment. ZincFive’s UPStealth Battery Backup System can now be spec’d into transportation projects throughout the state of Oregon. A two year approval process involved lab testing and what ODOT called a “flawless” deployment of the UPStealth Battery Backup System in Biggs Junction, Oregon. ODOT’s approval gives cities a trusted, green alternative to traditional–and troublesome–lead-acid batteries.

ODOT installed three UPStealth® Battery Backup System units at three intersections built as apart of the I-84 @ U.S. 97 Interchange project.

“This looks like a win-win all the way around. The UPStealth is quick and easy, actually fitting inside the existing traffic signal controller cabinet. With less stuff on the streets there is less maintenance and less chance it will get hit. There could be less cost and a longer battery life, and that appeals to our retrofit projects.”
